Discover the culinary delights of Pasta Wynwood, where tradition meets creativity in an intimate, vibrant setting.
Pasta Wynwood: A Taste of Modern Italian Cuisine in Miami
Hey, food enthusiasts and culture vultures! I’ve got some news for you. Miami’s Wynwood district, known for its eclectic mix of art, fashion, and innovation, is about to get even more vibrant. This July, the neighborhood will welcome Pasta, a modern Italian eatery helmed by the acclaimed Peruvian chefs and husband-and-wife duo, Juan Manuel Umbert and Janice Buraschi.
These culinary maestros have made waves in Lima, Peru, with their celebrated restaurant, and now they’re bringing their unique take on Italian cuisine to the U.S. This isn't just another pasta place; it’s a culinary journey that merges the rich traditions of Italy with the diverse flavors and techniques from their global experiences.
A Culinary Adventure Awaits
Stepping into Pasta Wynwood, you’ll be greeted by a warm and inviting 2,400-square-foot space that seats 77 guests. The open kitchen is the heart of the restaurant, offering a glimpse into the artistry and passion that goes into each dish. It’s all about transparency and culinary excellence here.
Chef Buraschi says, “We opened a tiny restaurant in Lima with the goal of being the best pasta restaurant in the city. We are humbled by our success, and Miami presented an incredible and natural opportunity for growth.” Chef Umbert adds, “Our love for the pureness of Italian cuisine drives us. We strive to create dishes that are minimal in nature but showcase the very best ingredients and techniques we’ve learned throughout our careers.”
Delectable Dishes to Savor
The menu is a love letter to Italian cuisine, with a selection of tried-and-tested recipes alongside innovative starters and desserts that incorporate the chefs’ heritage and global experiences. Imagine starting your meal with Razor Clams with Salsa Verde and House-made ‘Nduja, a dish inspired by Miami’s nautical freshness. Or savoring Veal Sweetbread with Peruvian potatoes and Aceto di Modena, showcasing the quality and creativity that made their Lima location a hit.
But the heart of the menu is, of course, the pasta. From the comforting Pici Cacio e Pepe and Pappardelle with 12-Hour Braised Beef Cheek Ragú to the adventurous Fettuccine with housemade ‘nduja, mascarpone, and lime, there’s something for every palate. For a truly unique experience, try the Agnolotti di Funghi, which features a 36-month Parmigiano Reggiano that bursts with flavor in every bite, thanks to a special technique Chef Umbert perfected in New York.
And let’s not forget dessert. Chef Buraschi’s creations are the perfect ending to any meal. Highlights include Housemade Gelati, a Sicilian-inspired Pistachio di Bronte Tart, and a Coffee Crema Volteada, Peru’s take on a traditional flan packed with rich Peruvian coffee-caramel flavor. The beverage program is equally impressive, with a full bar and a curated list of classic Italian wines and cocktails, featuring an array of Negronis and Spritzes.
Wynwood: A Vibrant Backdrop
Located at 124 NW 28th Street, Pasta Wynwood is more than just a restaurant; it’s a part of the dynamic Wynwood fabric. This district, once known for its garment industry and Caribbean immigrant community, has transformed into a globally recognized hub for art and creativity. With its open-air street-art installations, eclectic bars, and innovative businesses, Wynwood is the perfect setting for Pasta’s U.S. debut.
